Happy Giving Tuesday!
Giving Tuesday is definitely looking a little different this year. It is important to remember that even though we may not be able to go sit at our favorite local coffee shop or hear our favorite live music, they need our support now more than ever.
I have put together a list of my favorite shops, music and wellness services, both online and in person that I try to support whenever I can! I hope you check them out and support their wonderful work/services!
1. What is Opera Anyway?- Virtual
The mission of What Is Opera, Anyway? is to develop and execute intergenerational programming that creates an understanding for and cultivates a love of opera. What is Opera Anyway will utilize a combination of virtual and in-person programming to achieve this mission. Programming will include (but will not be limited to), after school programsfor youth, lectures and lecture recitals for adults, and live performance programming for all ages.
Through diverse programming, participants will learn many ways to answer the question: "what is opera, anyway?"
2. Matilda Coffee House and Kitchen - Rochester, NY
This coffee shop is owned by a local chef and the owner of Fuego Coffee Roasters. It is a wonderful place and the coffee and food is still delicious when taken home to enjoy.
3. Yoga For A Good Cause with JT - Virtual
JT is a music teacher and certified yoga instructor in Rochester, NY who is using her skills to relax her class attendees andraise money for Hillside Family of Agencies who proves comprehensive health, education and human services for children and families whose challenges threaten their ability to realize their full potential.
4. Empire Film and Media Ensemble - Virtual
EFaME is an ensemble devoted to multimedia performances - live to picture films and so much more. They have some wonderful projects in the works, but they could use your help during the pandemic to ensure wonderful programming once they can perform again!
5. MY Virtual Trombone Studio -Virtual
I have a huge passion for teaching and I excited to be opening spots in my Virtual Trombone Studio right now! I have lesson bundles available to get started, or options to book lesson by lesson. If you, or someone you know is interested lessons, send me a message through my website or book me!
6. Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra - Virtual/Rochester, NY
The RPO is a world class orchestra in Rochester, NY. Much like many other orchestras during this time, every donation makes a huge difference. Ensure the longevity of the RPO by donating this holiday season! They are live-streaming concerts and events - check out their website for more information!
7. Passion Planner - Virtual
We were driven to give back to the community that has given so much to us. For that reason, we created our Get One, Give One Program. For every planner sold, we donate funds and planners to nonprofit organizations who are doing great work in their communities, ranging from raising mental health awareness to providing education for underserved youth. We also offer a free PDF version of the planner for anyone to print and use, regardless of their financial ability. 8. Jack Courtright's Compositions/Arrangements and Virtual Lessons - Virtual
Jack Courtright is an accomplished trombonist, arranger and composer. If you are looking for an excellent trombone solo with electronics or a rocking trombone octet, visit his website to purchase. He offers jazz trombone lessons as well!
9. Cafe Sasso - Rochester, NY
Cafe Sasso is an excellent coffee shop located on Park Ave in Rochester, NY. They are a small business supporting other small businesses like The Red Fern, Cheesy Eddie's and Boy and the Baker by selling their baked goods.
10. Mr. Pet Land - Personalized Pet Gifts - Virtual
This small Etsy shop is exceptional! I ordered a mug for my mom's birthday with her cats printed on it and it looks amazing, is super durable and it shipped really quickly! As you are gifting this holiday season, consider checking out this great shop!
